Hibernians midfielder Jake Grech and coach Stefano Sanderra were presented with the BOV Player of the Month and the first ever Motors Inc. Coach of the Month Award respectively for the months of August/September before the BOV Premier League match between Hibernians and Birkirkara on Saturday.

The 23 year old was the catalyst behind Hibernians’ 3-1 victory over Gzira in their first game of the season. The Malta midfielder scored a goal in each half before setting up Ferdinando Apap for his team’s third goal as Gżira United had very little response to their opponents play. Grech notched another two goals for his team, one against Sirens and another in Hibs’ 3-2 win over Mosta to land himself the first individual honour of the 2021/2022 BOV football Season.

Malta FA’s General Secretary Dr Angelo Chetcuti and Geoffrey Ghigo, Executive at Bank of Valletta presented the BOV Player of the Month Trophy for August and September to Grech who chose Puttinu Cares to benefit from the donation associated with this award.

Bank of Valletta is a major supporter of sporting initiatives in Malta, in line with its ESG commitments as a responsible citizen of the Community in which it operates.

Hibernians coach Stefano Sanderra won the first Motors Inc. Coach of the Month award for the months of August and September.

In August and September, under Sanderra’s helm, Hibernians remained unbeaten.  In fact, Hibernians won four of their five outings: against Gzira United, Gudja United, Sirens FC, and Mosta FC.  The match against Santa Lucia ended in a tie. 

The Italian coach managed to bag 147 points in a vote which is taken by Premier League Teams’ captains, team managers, technical staff, and media
