National Amateur League: Comfortable wins for Senglea, Birzebbuga

Senglea Athletic and Birzebbuga St. Peter’s registered comfortable wins in matches from Group A of the National Amateur League on Sunday.

Senglea defeated Pembroke Athleta 7-1 at the Luxol Stadium. Senglea were already leading 3-0 in the first nine minutes thanks to goals by Kane Bonello on the 4th, Sebastian Perdomo Esquivel on the 6th and an own goal on the 9th. Weverton Gomes pulled one back on the 18th but in the second half, Matteo Desira Buttigieg increased the lead on the 47th, Timmy Thomas scored twice on the 58th and 83rd with Perdomo adding another on the 78th.

At the Luxol Stadium, Birzebbuga beat Qormi 5-1. Andrely Kouessabio Makela put Birzebbuga ahead on the 11th and Keith Muscat scored twice on the 18th and 25th with Christian Desira adding another on the 45th as the Saints went 4-0 ahead before half-time. In the second half, Iro Curmi scored for Qormi on the 59th but Makela made it 5-1 nine minutes from time.

At the Sirens Stadium, goals by Jurgen Grech on the 8th, John Micallef on the 58th and Christian Saint Ebisindor handed Mgarr United a 3-0 win over Kalkara United while goals by Matthias Vella on the 24th, Miguel Grima on the 62nd and Jesmael Catania on the 92nd enabled Sta. Venera Lightnings to beat Ta’ Xbiex 3-0 at the Luxol Stadium.
