Senglea Athletic registered their twelfth win in Group A of the Izibet Amateur League as they defeated Ta’ Xbiex 6-0 at the Luxol Stadium on Saturday.
Wayne Borg put Senglea ahead on the 4th minute and Aidan Azzopardi doubled the score on the 11th. Timmy Thomas converted a penalty on the 38th, scoring another goal four minutes later before Wayne Borg scored a fifth goal one minute from the end of the first half. Timmy Thomas scored again on the 61st minute – the 300th goal in his career.
Mgarr United found no difficulty in beating Xghajra Tornados 5-0 at the Sirens Stadium. Jamie Lee Micallef put Mgarr ahead on the 15th and six minutes later, Christian Saint Ebisindor doubled the score. Andreas Galea made it 3-0 on the 39th and two minutes later, Christian Saint Ebisindor added another. Jamie Lee Micallef scored Mgarr’s fifth on the hour.
Malcolm Vella Vidal scored twice for Mellieha as they defeated Sta. Venera Lightnings 2-0 at the Luxol Stadium, goals on the 7th and the 80th.
On the other hand, a goal by Julian Zammit on the 4th minute handed Kalkara United a narrow win over Pembroke Athleta at the Sirens Stadium.
Senglea lead the way with 37 points, followed by Zabbar on 35, Mgarr 32, Kalkara 24, Birzebbuga 22, Qormi 19, Xghajra 17, Sta. Venera 11, Mellieha 10, Pembroke 9 and Ta’ Xbiex 1.
