Abandoned match to be played on February 10

The Malta Football Association announced that the BOV Second Division match between Birzebbuga St. Peter’s and Mgarr United will be played on Wednesday 10th February at the Centenary Stadium, kick-off at 16:00.

The match was originally played on Saturday but was abandoned on the 65th minute due to a power failure.

Mgarr were leading 2-1 after Kenneth Aquilina put them ahead on the 2nd minute, Lesley Cassar Jackson equalised on the 25th and Joseph Paul Zammit restored the lead on the 31st.

  2. I think it is high time that the Maltese football competent authorities review the competition rule regarding abandoned matches in Malta. In such cases, matches should be “Suspended” and continued later at the time it would be suspended rather than a fresh restart. I believe that this way is much fairer.

    1. I agree 100%…you see matches abroad called off due to power failure or else adverse weather conditions and then continued on another day from the same minute it was called off at. Why are rules in Malta different?
